What if?

(review courtesy of

I like rom-coms & indie flicks as much as the next gal so, naturally, when I saw the opportunity to go to the cinema and see a film that intertwined both I said yes.

Luckily for me Queen Charlotte must have also liked indie movies (and maybe rom-coms?) because this city has several independent movie theatres; the two most notable being the Manor Theatre off of Providence Road and the Ballantyne Theatre in Ballantyne Village.

(Also, has anyone decided what the correct spelling of theater(re) is? It’s like grey(ay). Personally I like “re” better, but sorry in advance if you’re horribly offended by my spelling.)

I digress.

"What if?" is the story of two perfectly compatible people who stumble across each other at a friend’s party and become great friends only to realize that for some reasons I cannot reveal (spoiler alert) for the time being they can be nothing more. And so they are the best of friends.

Not only was this story incredibly sweet and quirky, but I loved getting to see Daniel Radcliffe in the role of the lovable, yet a little dorky, Wallace. He’s so charming and plus, ladies, who doesn’t love an accent? Exactly. His counterpart in this film, Chantry, played by Zoe Kazan, was utterly adorable as well (can we share a closet, please?). Together they were the perfect match of quick wit and splendid normalcy.

I loved it. Mostly because I felt like I was watching real life. This was a feel-good story with a thick enough plot line to keep me hoping for resolution in the end. I guess you will have to watch it to find out if these meant-to-be friends ever become more than that.

"What if?" gets a 4.5/5 stars from me!

David Gray at Uptown Amphitheater. What a wonderful show with such a talented performer!

I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.

You’ll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living, breathing screaming invitation to believe better things.
